
Intro to Wheel Thrown Teapots

Service Description
Learn the basics of wheel thrown teapots, spouts, and handles! Students will be guided through the basics of wheel throwing teapot forms to begin exploring their artistic visions with instructor guidance. They will explore the many intricacies of teapots and all their components, such as lids, flanges, handles, and spouts. Simple surface decoration techniques will be covered as well, along with glazing approaches to teapots and spouted forms. A variety of different teapot components will be shown throughout the course, leading towards a more developed teapot of the student's design towards the end of the class. To Bring: Notebook/sketchbook and writing utensil. Old clothes or attire you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Your favorite pottery tools. Tool kits will be available for purchase on the first day of class for $15. If students would prefer to bring in tools for class on their own, the following will be required for this class: a metal rib, wooden rib, needle tool, wire tool, sponge, wooden knife, fettling knife, and trimming tools. Calipers will be provided for class use, but an additional pair of calipers is always good to have if you want to save multiple measurements. This is a stacked class. Basic intro to wheel throwing experience is required for this course. Semi-advanced guidance will be provided for those who have thrown before and are looking for more advanced instruction. Ages 16+ Additional Costs: Glazing and firing fee: $40 One bag of clay is included in the class cost. Additional clay can be purchased from Wooten Clayworks if desired. Students may choose between Kentucky Mudworks claybodies Roo and Iceman. Members may choose from additional clays. Additional charges may apply based on the cost of specialty clays, such as porcelain. Pay As You Go: Please note, you pay a $100 deposit when you book this course. If you do not pay the remaining $200 for the course at the first class, we do offer payment plans. However, the price per class increases to $58 each class. The deposit amount will be put towards your last 2 classes in this case. Refunds are not available once the course has begun. Payment plans are available for members and long term students. We do our best to work with the community to offer them quality ceramic education and resources.

Cancellation Policy
Bookings for classes, workshops, events, and private lessons which are canceled 7 calendar days or more prior to the class or event will receive a full refund. Any cancellations received 7-3 days prior will receive a 50% refund. Any and all cancellations 2 days or less before the class/course are not eligible for a refund. Cancellations which are at least 24 hours prior to the class may transfer their booking to another applicable date or find a substitute student to take their place. If you need to cancel after the 7 day window, please contact the store. Wooten Clayworks cannot reschedule with less than 24 hours notice due to the inability to fill the space that was taken from another potential student. Please note there is a 2 student minimum for classes to run. Students will be notified the day prior if the class has to be cancelled and will receive a full refund.
